The former cast member of the MTV reality dating series, who had been open about her struggles with substance abuse, claimed she was sober in September before she was found dead on Thursday, January 9.

AceShowbiz - Alexis Eddy has gone too soon. The Season 6 contestant of MTV's "Are You the One?" passed away at the age of 23 on Thursday, January 9 in her home state of West Virginia, leaving her co-stars reeling from her sudden death.

In a statement about the reality star's passing, the Mannington Police Department said that police "were called for a report of a woman in cardiac arrest" at 7 A.M. that morning. "She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was transported to Fairmont Regional Medical Center," the officials further noted.

While authorities are still waiting on a toxicology report to determine the West Virginia native's cause of death, her grandmother Carol Efaw suggested that she died from an overdose. "Alexis was a lost soul," she told Radar Online. "It was an OD. She caught a hold of it again." The 68-year-old added, "She is not hurting anymore at least."

Upon hearing the tragic news, a number of Alexis' castmates expressed their condolences on social media. "Literally talked to Alexis yesterday about how much better her life is sober," Ethan Scott who also went by the name E-Money confided on Twitter. "Just don't even know how to feel right now. Can't believe we'll never have another heart to heart convo."
