The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly flown to North America without her husband to be reunited with her son, who was left in Canada with her friend Jessica Mulroney and a nanny when the couple returned to the U.K.

AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle has reportedly returned to Canada to be with her son Archie, after spending just three days in the United Kingdom. The former actress allegedly flew to North America without her husband Prince Harry after the couple made the shocking announcement about their royal exit.

According to E! News, it appears that the couple left their son Archie in Canada with friend Jessica Mulroney and a nanny when they returned to the U.K. earlier this month to attend business. While Meghan has reunited with her son, her husband is likely left behind in London to deal with the problems that arose with their shocking announcement.

Harry is expected to be reunited with his wife and son in Canada in the coming days, but some royal reporters have pointed out that the brother of Prince William has another engagement scheduled in England for next Thursday.

Harry and Meghan surprised everyone when they announced on Wednesday, January 8 that they would be stepping back from their roles as "senior" royals. "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution," so read a statement they posted on Instagram.

It continued, "We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment."

The couple also announced plans to split their time between the U.K. and North America, which the former actress had called home before marrying the prince in 2018. "This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity," they explained.

Meghan's half-sister Samantha Markle has weighed in on the couple's announcement, saying that "it is a slap in the face" to the British royal family. The 54-year-old, who is estranged from the "Suits" alum, told Inside Edition, "I think what is shocking is the lack of consideration for the people involved, the British royal family, the promises that were originally made to honor royal duties and to lead by example."
