AceShowbiz - Martin Scorsese recently sparked debate over his comment about Marvel Cinematic Universe. It looks like the whole controversy has inspired his daughter, Francesca Scorsese, to take a playful jab at the director on Christmas Day by wrapping his present with a Marvel-themed wrapping paper.

Francesca shared on Instagram Stories a photo of the present, which was wrapped in paper bearing the Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America. She had even bought another two rolls, bearing just Iron Man and Captain America, in case she ran out. "Look what I'm wrapping my dad's Xmas gifts in," she wrote in the caption, followed by a crying-laughing emoji.

People surely found the humor and were totally loving it, including "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn. Re-posting the photo on his Twitter account, he wrote, "Makes me feel less embarrassed by that Shutter Island paper my nephew wrapped my gifts in."

Back in October, Martin made headlines when he said that he doesn't think Marvel movies are cinema, prompting many celebrities to either side with him or argue with him. As the debate continued to get bigger, "The Irishman" director then went on to explain his stance in a New York Times op-ed. "Many of the elements that define cinema as I know it are there in Marvel pictures," he said. "What's not there is revelation, mystery or genuine emotional danger. Nothing is at risk. The pictures are made to satisfy a specific set of demands, and they are designed as variations on a finite number of themes."

"Many films today are perfect products manufactured for immediate consumption," he added. "Many of them are well made by teams of talented individuals. All the same, they lack something essential to cinema: the unifying vision of an individual artist. Because, of course, the individual artist is the riskiest factor of all."
