The streaming platform reportedly shelled out a whopping $25 million for the rights to the Peter Berg-directed film, which has been in the works for years.

AceShowbiz - When she's not busy making new music and touring, Rihanna is still making a lot of money from her upcoming movie project in addition to her clothing line. The Barbadian superstar may have added millions of dollars to her bank account as it's reported that her documentary has been sold to Amazon for a whopping $25 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming platform has landed worldwide rights to a Peter Berg-directed documentary about the "Umbrella" hitmaker after after paying a quarter of $100 million. It's worth noted though, that the 31-year-old star is not the only singer whose life story sparks so much interest in the industry since a documentary about fellow singer Billie Eilish recently landed on Apple TV+ also with a $25 million deal.

The yet-to-be-titled documentary about Rihanna is dubbed an unfiltered look into the star's life, providing a glimpse into the evolution of one of the world's most well-known pop artists. With unparalleled access into the singer's life and more than 1,200 hours of footage, the doc offers private insights into Rihanna's personality, sense of humor, work ethic, family and love.

Berg began working on the documentary years ago. He told THR in 2017 about following the "Ocean's 8" star in Europe, "That was a fun change of pace...to go travel with Rihanna around Europe, and Rihanna is surrounded by girls." He went on sharing, "We were in Nice [France]. She was going to do a concert on Bastille Day. And that truck driver who killed all those people plowed through them right in front of our hotel. So even in me trying to do something light, I had a very, very front-row seat to something that horrific."

Rihanna and Berg previously worked together on 2012's sci-fi, action film "Battleship", for which he also served as director. The singer portrayed Petty Officer Cora Raikes and starred alongside Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard as well as Brooklyn Decker in the movie.
