Report: Taiwanese-Canadian Model Godfrey Gao Has Died After Collapsing on TV Show Set

According to reports, an audience member hears the Louis Vuitton model shouts, 'I can't carry on,' before falling to the ground during filming for Chinese reality show 'Chase Me'.

AceShowbiz - Taiwanese-Canadian supermodel Godfrey Gao reportedly died from a heart attack on Wednesday, November 27. According to chinese media outlets, the 35-year-old collapsed early in the morning on the set of a Chinese reality show titled "Chase Me".

Various accounts on Weibo claimed that Gao was rushed to the hospital after having a medical emergency while filming the Zhejiang Television reality show. Bystanders allegedly attempted to revive him by applying CPR on him for 15 minutes. It was said that his heart stopped for three minutes.

According to Tencent News, an audience member heard the Louis Vuitton model shouted, "I can't carry on," before falling to the ground. Cameramen reportedly gathered around him and carried on with the filming, apparently believing that his actions were part of the show.

When asked for a confirmation about the reports, Zhejiang Television staff told the site, "Wait for us, thank you." The TV station added to Sina Entertainment, "There will be news updates later."

As of now, neither Gao's representative nor Zhejiang Television has released an official statement.

Upon learning about the news, fans quickly took to social media to express their condolence. In addition, some of them were criticizing "Chase Me", a show that is filmed at night in an urban area and involves two teams competing to win races. Some sources claimed that the show doesn't properly provide safety measures and Gao was filming for 17 hours.

"The variety show is known to be super tiring and the poor work condition is also one of the factors. Even Lucas had hard time filming the show before, we've seen those pics of him struggling to catch breath. Deep condolences, RIP Godfrey Gao," one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another one added, alongside a video of Gao having trouble with his breath during the filming, "The Chinese variety show #ChaseMe is putting contestants through extreme physical labour to the point actor Godfrey Gao has collapsed on set and died. Just looking at this video alone you can see they were pushed beyond their limits."

Someone else, meanwhile, demanded that an investigation is launched on the show. "They need to investigate #ChaseMe. Godfrey Gao was in good shape and everyone knows this. He was 35. He filmed for 17 hours straight with the possibility of no break. There were no proper medical attention given to him. Investigate!" the person said.
