The Daenerys Targaryen depicter addresses criticism surrounding the final season of the hit HBO series and her possible return to future spin-off when met at 71st Primetime Emmy Awards.

AceShowbiz - Emilia Clarke was "profoundly flattered" by the backlash from fans over "Game of Thrones"' eighth and final season.

As the series aired, some fans reacted furiously to the direction of the show, and started a Change.org petition after the penultimate episode aired, urging U.S. network HBO executives to remake the series, after they were disappointed by the show's conclusion.

Speaking at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night, September 22, after the show scooped the Outstanding Drama Series prize, the actress, who played Dragon Queen Daenerys Targaryen in the TV adaptation of George R. R. Martin's novels, told Variety she sees the criticism as a positive.

"You know what? It was profoundly flattering is what it was because when someone cares that much that they're ready to make such a noise about how they believe the characters should've been finished and how the story should've gone..., that's just enormously flattering," she explained. "That just shows how much everybody loved it."

Emilia went on to quip that reuniting with her co-stars at the prestigious ceremony was a fun experience, because they've had "enough space now (from each other) since filming", adding: "It feels like everyone's had some time to cool down a little bit."

But when pushed over the prospect of returning to the series for a future reboot or spin-off, the actress replied: "I honestly don't think that you would have a crew or a cast alive to do another couple seasons."

"We put our absolute heart and soul, blood, sweat, and tears, muscle, brain energy, everything into this and I feel like everybody's families are like: 'Thank God, you're done. We can get everyone back.'"
