Sitting down with Seth Rogen and Andy Cohen on 'Watch What Happens Live', the 'Long Shot' actress dishes on the time when she got approached to tackle the role of the superhero's mother.

AceShowbiz - Charlize Theron has described the time she was approached about playing Wonder Woman's mother as the "defining moment" of her career.

The Oscar-winning actress made an appearance alongside Seth Rogen on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" on Thursday night, May 02, to promote their new romcom "Long Shot (2019)".

However, during the chat, Charlize was asked by a caller if she had any regrets over turning down the role lead role in DC Comics' 2017 superhero film, with the part eventually going to Gal Gadot, and she explained that she was never in line to take on the character.

"I did not turn the role of Wonder Woman down," the 43-year-old insisted, before going on to recall how she had been approached by someone working on the production, just not about the titular role. "This is a great example of how Hollywood slaps you in the face when you start ageing. So, somebody had said to me, 'There's action on this thing Wonder Woman, we just want to make you aware of it.' And I was like, 'I'm not familiar with it, I don't really (know), what does Wonder Woman do?' And this person said, 'No it's for Wonder Woman's mom.'"

Charlize added that she was "fine" with being considered for Wonder Woman's mother Hippolyta, who was ultimately portrayed by 53-year-old Connie Nielsen, but the discussion made her realise that she was now a mature actress by showbiz standards.

"It was the defining moment where I crossed over, and I wasn't fully aware of it," the "Atomic Blonde" star commented.

Elsewhere in the interview, mother-of-two Charlize shared that she has no desire to date any of the contestants from "The Bachelor" or any Bravo show, and also rejected rumours that she has issues with Angelina Jolie.

"I don't know her very well; I know her from events. But always so lovely, we really don't know each other, we're not friends or hang out. But she's never been nothing but gracious and lovely and warm," she smiled of the "Tomb Raider" actress.
