AceShowbiz - Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be able to watch the Guardians of the Galaxy back in the big screen sooner than expected. Contrary to previous reports, it is said that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" will begin its production sometime next year with James Gunn serving as the director. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story.
Should the report be true, there's a chance that the filming for the Marvel movie will happen just a few months after Gunn shoots "The Suicide Squad", which is due for release in August 2021. Previous report stated that the production date for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" was set for February 2021 and that it would be under the working title of "Hot Christmas".
Details regarding the movie are currently unknown, though Gunn previously teased that the upcoming installment could involve Adam Warlock and see the return of Ayesha (Elisabeth Debicki). Gunn also said that the movie would provide an "epic conclusion" to the story that would draw the team to a close.
This arrives after Disney made the decision to rehire Gunn after the company fired him over old offensive tweets that resurfaced on social media. He confirmed the news in a tweet that read, "I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be."
He continued, "I deeply appreciate Disney's decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all."
Besides directing, Gunn also serves as the writer for the movie.
