Orley, father of the 37-year-old Brazilian model, blames the storm that hit the coast of Sao Paulo for her death, as her agent mentions that her husband Jorge Sestini is in shock for not being able to save her.

AceShowbiz - Brazilian model and TV presenter Caroline Bittencourt has died, aged 37.

The blonde stunner reportedly drowned at sea on Sunday, April 28 during a sudden storm.

She was aboard a catamaran in Sao Paulo when the storm hit.

Bittencourt's 17-year-old daughter, Isabelle, has confirmed her mother's death in a statement, which reads, "We are grateful for the support and affectionate messages we have received from Carol's friends and fans. This energy drive fills our hearts with so much love."

According to Brazilian news outlet Globo, the model's body was found on Monday near Cigarras Beach.

Her husband, Jorge Sestini, spent three hours in the water searching for his missing wife before he was rescued.

The late model's father, Orley, tells The Sun, "It was nothing more than an accident caused by the storm itself, which hit the coast of Sao Paulo on Sunday. Jorge told me a wave hit the side of the boat and the strength of that and strong winds unbalanced Carol and she fell into the water."

And a statement from Wagner Goulart de Souz, the Captain of Sao Sebastiao Port Authority, reads, "Jorge said his wife was swept out to sea after winds of more than 100kmh hit the boat."

"It appears that due to the force of the winds and the high seas, Caroline was thrown into the sea."

The family has dismissed reports suggesting she jumped into the sea to rescue her dogs.

Meanwhile, the model's agent, Andrea Boneti, has revealed her husband is still in a state of shock. "Jorge tried to save her," she says. "He saw Carol drowning and wasn't able to save her. It was a terrible moment for him."
