Although the season finale of the hit NBC family drama answers some burning questions, it also leaves further questions to be answered in the next season.

AceShowbiz - "This Is Us" wrapped its season 3 on Tuesday, April 2. The season finale of the NBC drama revealed so much about the Pearson family in a flash foward episode. Although the episode answered some questions, it also left further questions to be answered in the next season.

[SPOILER ALERT!] The episode saw that the tension between Randall and Beth was thickening, though both of them knew they needed to talk to figure out what to do. Meanwhile, Tess revealed to Kevin that she still had so many questions about herself after coming out.

Kevin managed to calm Tess down, but following the heart-to-heart talk with Tess, he started to reconsider his choice not to have kids. Kevin then met Zoe, telling her that his mother didn't want kids at first. It seemed like Kevin was trying to make Zoe change her mind.

Later, Zoe told Kevin that she knew Kevin would be an amazing dad one day. However, it didn't change the fact that she didn't want to be a mother. The big difference eventually made them split for good with Zoe moving out of Kevin's place. As for Kevin, he went back to L.A. following the separation.

Fans might hope that would only be temporary and things would get back normal in the future. However, that might not be the case for Kevin and Zoe.

Despite the earlier tension, Randall and Beth were seen still happy and in love with each other. Meanwhile, Kevin was revealed to have a son, but it remains unknown who is the mother. Unless Zoe changes her mind about having kids, it's more likely that Kevin has found someone new after the breakup.

With that being said, Melanie Liburd, who plays Zoe on the series, will not be returning in series regular capacity in season 4. "We don't want to hold on to her and then not have the real estate for her," executive producer Isaac Aptaker told TVLine about the actress, who first appeared on "This Is Us" in its season 2 finale. "She's an amazing actress and she has a ton of opportunities... We don't want to stop her from [getting another full-time gig]."

He added, "Whenever there are opportunities for Zoe to come back -- which [would be] pretty organic because she touches on Kevin's life as well as, of course, Beth and Randall's life -- we're eager to have her back. ... We love Melanie so much. She's a friend of the show and she did an amazing job for us; we love her both as an actor and as a person."
