Days after news broke out that the 'Venom' star and wife Charlotte Riley have welcomed their third child, it is unveiled that the proud parents named their newborn after Tom Hanks' iconic character.

AceShowbiz - Tom Hardy and his wife Charlotte Riley have reportedly named their new baby Forrest.

The "Venom (2018)" star and "Peaky Blinders" actress became parents again in December (2018), but kept the news of their bundle of joy quiet.

While Tom and Charlotte are yet to officially announce the name of their son, a source has told editors at U.K. newspaper The Sun that they chose the name Forrest, in homage to Tom Hanks' character in 1994 film "Forrest Gump".

"They love the name Forrest as it's earthy and strong," the insider said. "Tom has always found the movie 'Forrest Gump' very inspiring and enjoyable and thinks it fits."

Tom apparently only told friends and family about the arrival of the infant, with the family "adjusting to the needs of a newborn" over the festive season.

"The couple are over the moon with the new addition to the family. Friends are already saying that the baby boy looks exactly like Tom," a source added to the publication.

The super-private pair is already parents to a three-year-old daughter, though they have never shared her name. While Tom also has son Louis, 10, with his ex, Rachael Speed.

And the 41-year-old recently opened up about his role as a father, describing parenthood as "beyond a job."

"There is no harder and more important job on the planet than parenting. You've got the military, police, doctors, service personnel - massive respect, huge consequences - but parenting? It's beyond a job, isn't it," he shared.

Tom and Charlotte, 37, met on the set of 2009 British TV film "Wuthering Heights" and married in 2014. Her pregnancy was announced last summer.
