It was said that the "Sweetener" singer thought "this wasn't the right time for them." While Pete was understandably heartbroken over this, he knew that this is the best for them.

However, they were allegedly not ruling out any possibility of getting back together as the two are still pretty much in love with each other. "They have a very special connection, partly because Pete has been there for Ariana during a painful time in her life. She will forever and always be grateful to Pete," a source claimed.
