Setting the record clear on speculations he got jilted by Justin Bieber's wife, the 'In My Blood' singer insists that she is 'one of the most beautiful hearts I've ever met.'

AceShowbiz - Shawn Mendes has a unique way to describe his past romance with Hailey Baldwin. Days after the model daughter of Stephen Baldwin had her rumored marriage to Justin Bieber confirmed, the "In My Blood" crooner admitted that he did date her for a short while, labeling their relationship as "zone of limbo."

The 20-year-old singer made the confession in an interview with Patrick Doyle for Rolling Stone magazine. "I don't even want to put a title on it. I think it was more of a zone of limbo," he explained when the subject of him and Baldwin stepping out together to the 2018 Met Gala back in May was brought up.

While he didn't elaborate further on the short-lived romance, the "Stitches" hitmaker assured he was not jilted by Baldwin. When the 22-year-old beauty got together with Bieber one month after their Met Gala date, he even texted her a congratulatory message. "I really am happy for them," he further added.

Though things didn't work out between them, the two-time American Music Awards winner has nothing but praises for his ex. "She's still one of the f***ing coolest people ever," he gushed. "She's not just a beautiful person visually, but she's one of the most beautiful hearts I've ever met. I think I'm an idiot to not, you know… But you can't control your heart."

Aside from talking about his relationship with Baldwin, Mendes also addressed the pressure he felt to prove his sexuality. "In the back of my heart, I feel like I need to go be seen with someone – like a girl – in public, to prove to people that I'm not gay," he stated. "Even though in my heart I know that it's not a bad thing. There's still a piece of me that thinks that. And I hate that side of me."

During the chat, the Canadian singer also admitted that the stress caused him to analyze himself by watching his interviews. It wasn't until Christmas of 2017 that he had enough. "I thought, 'You f***ing guys are so lucky I'm not actually gay and terrified of coming out.' That's something that kills people. That's how sensitive it is," he reminisced. "Do you like the songs? Do you like me? Who cares if I'm gay?"
