Movie

The 'Interstellar' actor plays a fishing boat captain who is thrust back into a past he wanted to leave behind and begins to question the truth.

AceShowbiz - A new trailer has been released for upcoming movie "Serenity (2018)" starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. The former stars as Baker Dill and the latter plays his ex-wife, Karen, who comes to find him and offers him $10 million to kill her new, abusive husband. Seduced by her temptation, Baker considers to take the offer, but some people appear to know his plans and warn him.

The video hints at the mind-bending twist as Baker questions the truth and supposed conspiracy in the island. "You know how in Plymouth we say everybody knows everything?" Baker asks in a voiceover. "Wouldn't it be funny if the truth was that nobody knows anything?"

The video ends with Baker opening a blank map that shows nothing but Plymouth Island without its longitude and altitude. "Where in the world are we?" he asks.

According to the official synopsis, Baker Dill (Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey) is a fishing boat captain leading tours off a tranquil, tropical enclave called Plymouth Island. His quiet life is shattered, however, when his ex-wife Karen (Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway) tracks him down with a desperate plea for help.

She begs Baker to save her - and their young son - from her new, violent husband (Jason Clarke) by taking him out to sea on a fishing excursion, only to throw him to the sharks and leave him for dead. Karen's appearance thrusts Baker back into a life he'd tried to forget, and as he struggles between right and wrong, his world is plunged into a new reality that may not be all that it seems.

Oscar nominee Steven Knight writes and directs the neo-noir movie, which is described as a daringly original, sexy, stylized thriller. Djimon Hounsou and Jeremy Strong also join the cast in supporting roles. The film is slated for release in the United States on January 25, 2019.
