The Chicago mayoral candidate herself has spoken up about the reasons why the 'Stronger' rapper backed her up and made $73K donation to her political campaign.

AceShowbiz - Kanye West has given his native Chicago's wannabe mayor another big boost by joining her on the campaign trail.

A day after the rapper donated over $73,000 (£56,000) to Amara Enyia's campaign, he was back home supporting her at a rally on Tuesday, October 23.

Kanye didn't stay for long and chose not to speak at the event, but he agreed to stand onstage alongside Enyia and Chance The Rapper, who endorsed the new mayoral candidate at a press conference earlier this month.

Enyia told the Chicago Tribune she convinced Kanye to join her on the campaign trail over the phone after he contacted her out of the blue to discuss social issues.

"We definitely had a conversation, and when we talk about what Chicago needs and what it will take to get us there, he sees this campaign as a vital part of that, and that is what prompted him to support us and get over this financial barrier we have had," the wannabe mayor told the newspaper."

Kanye's donation will help Enyia cover fines she must pay in order to add her name to the mayoral election ballot and take on Rahm Emanuel.
