AceShowbiz - Drake opened up about being a father to his "beautiful" 12-month-old son Adonis.

The 31-year-old rapper confirmed he was a father when he released his album "Scorpion" back in June.

And in an interview with basketball star LeBron James for his show "The Shop", Drake opened up on his relationship with his son, who he shares with French artist and former adult-film star Sophie Brussaux.

"(He has) crazy blue eyes - baby blue eyes," the Canadian rapper gushed. "He's already in the pool shooting the basketball. I'm just excited."

Drake said he was enjoying fatherhood, and explained he had been drawing on "all of the things I've learned from and through my father and the incredible things I've learned through my mother about patience, about unconditional love".

The "Hotline Bling" hitmaker was not in a relationship with Brussaux when she gave birth to Adonis on October 11 last year. She then hired two attorneys in New York to begin legal proceedings against the rapper to prove he was the father, and seek child support.

Drake discussed his fraught relationship with his former girlfriend during the interview, and said he wanted them to get along for the sake of Adonis.

"I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, we've had our moments," he said. "We have found ourselves in a situation and we are both equally responsible. Now, I'm just really excited to be a great father."

Drake also confessed that when he discovered Brussaux was pregnant, he was too scared to tell his mother.

"I think I was more scared to tell my mom because my mom has had real relationships with women in my life over the course of my years that I'm sure she would expect or be elated if I were to have gotten one of those women pregnant," Drake said, laughing. "It was tough for me to tell her that it was somebody that she never met."
