Rachel Butera, who voices General Leia Organa on the upcoming series, mocks the Brett Kavanaugh accuser's way of speaking in a now-deleted video.

AceShowbiz - A voice actress of "Star Wars Resistance" has come under fire following an offensive Twitter video. Rachel Butera, who provides the voice of General Leia Organa on the animated series, was recently attacked by fans for attempting to imitate the voice of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in a mocking way.

While Dr. Ford was testifying on Capitol Hill regarding assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Butera said in a now-deleted video, "I don’t know if anybody is listening to the Dr. Blasey Ford testimony about Brett Kavanaugh, but this is how I sound."

"I know it's a surprise to even me that I talk this way and I'm a doctor and a grown woman. I sound like I'm still back at that high school party...um...I can't help it, I just have this kind of a voice like a baby, even though I'm a doctor," she continued, calling the way Dr. Ford talks "Fry-Ford." She added, "And I'm on this media circus, political stage, and I have kids myself. I don't know why I speak with vocal fry, um, but you can listen to my testimony and hear that a grown woman sounds this way. Dr. Blasey Ford, thank you."

It didn't take long for fans to attack the voice actress for the tone deaf post, prompting her to delete the video about half an hour after it was posted. Among those who called her out were prominent "Star Wars" super-fans.

Jill Pantozzi, Deputy Editor of i09, tweeted, "You're the voice of General Leia on @starwars Resistance and you're using your platform to mock a woman who is baring her soul about a sexual assault in front of the country. Shame on you. Carrie Fisher would be appalled."

Amanda Ward from MakingStarWars urges "Star Wars Resistance" to recast her role. "Hey @starwars @Disney I'd be happy with literally ANYONE redoing the voice work for Leia before the 7th. Just replace her lines with Wookiee growls or cut her entirely. I'm fine. Leia means so much to us, and I can't watch her in Resistance voiced by @RachelAButera," she said. Managing Editor of Nerdist Amy Ratcliffe simply added, "This is unnecessary and cruel."

Following the backlash, Butera issued an apology, insisting that she "was by no means mocking a rape victim I am 100% on Christine Blasy Ford's side!" She added, "I am just a vocal impressionist and decided to imitate her voice but it was a mistake. I apologize and I believe ALl women."

"I am seriously sorry I honestly didn’t think this would offend anyone I just thought I was imitating the voice," she concluded, before apparently deleting her account.

In addition to voicing General Leia in the forthcoming series, Butera has done voice work for the CBS reboot of "Murphy Brown." Both Disney and CBS have yet to respond to the controversy.
