AceShowbiz - Ariana Grande struggled through an emotional tribute to Aretha Franklin during a taped appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in America on Thursday, August 16.
According to TMZ sources, the No Tears Left to Cry singer sobbed after she was persuaded to sing one of the Queen of Soul's hits by Questlove, the leader of the show's house band the Roots.
Grande was booked to appear in a comedy skit with host Jimmy Fallon, and was not supposed to sing - but she agreed to honour the soul legend after learning she had passed away from cancer, and opened the show with the late icon's classic (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.
The touching tribute was a big hit - the studio audience gave the star a standing ovation just before she reportedly broke down backstage.
The show airs later tonight in America.
