Her 'Will and Grace' co-star pranks her for one birthday during the TV sitcom's original run, though she has a severe allergy to every flower.

AceShowbiz - Allergy-prone actress Debra Messing was once forced to vacate her dressing room on the set of "Will & Grace" after co-star Harry Connick, Jr. filled it with flowers as part of a prank.

Messing reveals her onscreen love interest thought it would be hilarious to surprise her with an over-the-top floral gift for one birthday during the TV sitcom's original run - but she found it far from funny.

"I am allergic to every flower...," she told morning show "Live" with Kelly and Ryan. "My throat closes and I sound like Kermit the Frog, and my eyes cry and my face turns red... It's bad. I'm allergic to everything."

"One of the things Harry Connick, Jr. did when he was on 'Will & Grace', for my birthday I came into my dressing room and it was literally wall-to-wall flowers," the star recalled. "He knew about my allergy! It was a practical joke, so I literally couldn't even walk into my dressing room, for the whole day - for the rest of the week! I was like, 'Are you kidding me?' And then he was like, 'Oh, I didn't know...' I was like, 'You liar!'"

Messing will celebrate her 50th birthday on Wednesday, August 15, and although she will be spending the day on the set of the revived show, she has given her loved ones clear guidelines about what they should give her if they are planning any kind of gift.

"The two best things you can get me are balloons and jewellery," she smiled.
