The 78-year-old star passed away on Sunday, June 24, six weeks after being diagnosed with brain cancer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Anderson started acting professionally in the 1960s and starred in several theatre productions before appearing in hundreds of films and TV shows, including Spider-Man, Armageddon, The Pelican Brief, and The X-Files. He also played the judge in the Seinfeld finale, and Drew Carey's dad on The Drew Carey Show.

Anderson also won a Helen Hayes Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Piggy Bank.
