AceShowbiz - Actress Laura Dern will develop a TV adaptation of the upcoming book "Mr. & Mrs. American Pie" after signing a first-look deal with bosses at Platform One Media.

The series will be based on Juliet McDaniel's novel, which comes out in August, and will centre on a woman trying to get her life back after being dismissed by her husband and their social circle, according to Deadline.

McDaniel will write the adaptation and will executive produce alongside the "Big Little Lies" star and her business partner Jayme Lemons.

"Jayme and I are thrilled to be working with Platform One Media," Dern shares in a statement. "We feel so inspired by the passion (chief executive officer) Katie O'Connell (Marsh) and her amazing team brings to every creative conversation."

Dern and Lemons first collaborated on 2000 film "Dr. T and the Women" and have continued to work together on several projects, including TV series "Enlightened" and "The Tale".
