'We realize this story received widespread media attention,' editors for the magz say in a statement.

AceShowbiz - Editors at Star magazine have apologised to actress Teri Hatcher for writing an article suggesting she is "broke and homeless."

Earlier this year, editors at the publication published a story with a headline that read, "Desperate Teri Hatcher Broke & Homeless! She Moves From $5 Million Home Into This Van!"

After the article was released, the former Desperate Housewives star denied the reports publicly and insisted the green Volkswagen camper was being used for a YouTube show called Van Therapy. She also explained she had told editors at the magazine that their reports were wrong, but they still ran the story.

"That is even more egregious, that it was so purposefully hurtful," she told KTLA 5 Morning News.

Star magazine editors are now apologising to Hatcher over their false claims in a story titled, The Truth About Teri Hatcher.

"Star accepts Ms. Hatcher's version of events and apologizes to her for the claims we made," the article reads. "We realize this story received widespread media attention, and we recognize this created a difficult time for Ms. Hatcher."
