The singer and his fiancee Cherry Seaborn are rumoured to be planning to marry there.

AceShowbiz - Ed Sheeran has been advised by an official at his local council to abandon plans to build a huge Saxon-style chapel at his home.

Ed submitted plans to build his own place of worship to planning officials at Suffolk Coastal and Waveney Councils earlier this year under the name of his fiancee Cherry Seaborn's architect father Matthew. The couple are rumoured to be planning to marry there.

However, his plans have been criticised by locals for their impact on the environment and landscape.

In an email response to the plans seen by WENN, the council's Arboriculture and Landscape Manager raised his objections to the project, writing that the plans for the building - which will feature a 14.6 metre (48 feet) tower - are "misguided" and suggesting Ed adopt a more modest architectural style for the building.

"Something simpler, without a tower, and indeed, contemporary could have been much more acceptable," he suggested.

The expert official also accused Ed's application of being full of "contradictions" as it claimed the chapel would add to the landscape and yet would eventually be largely hidden by trees. He also criticised the plans as having an adverse impact on the landscape as the village already has a parish church.

In another email, the official did offer Ed some hope of getting his original building plans approved – explaining that his proposals to plant trees may mitigate the impact over time - so councillors did not have to automatically block the construction of the chapel.

Neighbours' objections to the building include claims it will harm endangered newts living in ponds on and near the musician's property. His architects later submitted detailed proposals to protect the amphibians. Under U.K. law it is illegal to catch or handle the newts without a licence, or to harm them or disturb their habitat.

Over the past few years, 27-year-old Ed has been steadily buying up properties in a village near his hometown of Framlingham to create a huge country estate - which will eventually boast two underground entertainment rooms as well as his own private pub.
