'That's massive grief to certain women,' the 'Big Little Lies' describes her feelings following the miscarriages during her marriage to Tom Cruise.

AceShowbiz - Nicole Kidman has acknowledged the desperate pain she felt after two of her pregnancies ended prematurely during her marriage to Tom Cruise.

The Eyes Wide Shut actress tragically suffered a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy, 25 years ago, when she was married to the Top Gun star, leading the couple to adopt now-adult children Isabella and Connor.

Over two decades on, the 50-year-old has confessed that her feelings around losing a child are as raw and as heartbreaking as ever.

"I know the yearning. That yearning. It's a huge, aching yearning. And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough,' she told British publication Tatler magazine, where she stars on the July cover. "That's massive grief to certain women."

Nicole was just 23 when she lost her first child by Cruise shortly after their wedding in 1990 due to an ectopic pregnancy, a condition where an embryo attaches itself outside of the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes.

She later fell pregnant again in 2001 but suffered a miscarriage, around the same time Tom filed for divorce after 11 years together.

The pair's pregnancy struggles led them to adopt daughter Isabella Jane, now 26, and son Connor Anthony, now 23, soon after Nicole's ectopic pregnancy, and she has since had two biological children, Sunday Rose, and Faith Margaret with second husband and country singer Keith Urban.

Finally becoming a mother felt like a rollercoaster of emotions the Big Little Lies actress explained toTatler.

"There's an enormous amount of pain and an enormous amount of joy on the other side of it,' she gushed. "The flipside of going through so much yearning and pain to get there is the feeling of "Ahhhh!" when you have the child."
