Based on Ayn Rand's book, 'The Fountainhead' was first adapted into a film in 1949 by director King Vidor.

AceShowbiz - Zack Snyder is looking to adapt 1943 novel "The Fountainhead" for the silver screen.

The filmmaker was prompted to withdraw from post-production work on "Justice League" in May 2017 following the death of his daughter, with Joss Whedon employed to finish reshoots.

Since then, Snyder has been attached to direct "The Last Photograph", a drama about two men and the photograph that inspires them to travel to war-torn Afghanistan, and has now divulged that he is also looking to make a film version of Ayn Rand's book.

In response to a fan question asking about his next project on website Vero recently, Snyder replied: "Fountainhead".

"The Fountainhead" was Rand's first major literary success and tells of an individualistic young architect named Howard Roark, who chooses to struggle in obscurity rather than compromise his artistic and personal vision, following his battle to practice what the public sees as modern architecture.

It explores the complex relationships between Roark and the individuals who help or hinder his progress.

"The Fountainhead" was first adapted into a film in 1949 by director King Vidor, with Gary Cooper, Patricia Neal, Raymond Massey and Robert Douglas starring.

Although Rand wrote the screenplay for the film, she later criticised the movie's editing, production design, and acting.

No details about Snyder's potential adaptation of "The Fountainhead", including studio, cast or release date, have been announced. While he is believed to be in the pre-production stages of "The Last Photograph" at present, he has no other directing projects currently lined up.

However, the 52-year-old has been named as a producer on several upcoming films as part of the DC Universe (DCU), including "Deadshot", "Gotham City Sirens", "Suicide Squad 2", "Wonder Woman 2", and "Aquaman".
