The 'Party of Five' alum admits she was unprepared for the 12-hour event, saying she was melting in New York humidity.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Love Hewitt has apologized for her appearance at a recent TV launch event, insisting no one told her she'd be promoting her new show for 12 hours in New York humidity. The actress was announced as the new lead in Ryan Murphy's emergency services drama "9-1-1" on Monday, May 14, and spent the day posing for pictures and chatting to the media.

But the "Party of Five" star was far from impressed with her look as the day wore on, and she hit her Instagram account on Tuesday to explain why she looked so unglamorous in many shots, telling fans she was "melting."

"It has been a really intense couple of days," she wrote. "We go to the Upfront (press day) yesterday and nobody tells me the day is going to be, like, 12 hours long and the humidity is going to be almost 100 percent in New York City. So, I just have to apologize."

"Wearing a black suit? Not a good idea. Not wearing enough hairspray and teasing in my hair? Also a bad idea. I just have to apologize for how wrecked I look in all the pictures that have come out," she added. "I was literally melting. By the time I got to the red carpet, I was honestly melting. My hair was flat, my makeup was running off my face and I looked like I had completely forgotten I was an actress in this business who is supposed to look (perfect) when you step on the red carpet."

"That is not what I'm going to look like on the show. I'm going to have makeup on my face. I'm not going to be sweating. I'm not going to be overwhelmed by being in front of a red carpet and crews again. Honestly, I apologize. I should've really gotten it together!"

Hewitt then explained she's planning to get into shape for "9-1-1" by "killing my boxing workouts again," adding she's "grateful" and "excited" to be back on TV.

The second season of 9-1-1 will air in the autumn.
