The rapper claims the Pennsylvania medical professional's name Dr. Drai would cause confusion because their names sound alike, but officials say there's not enough evidence to prove it.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Dr. Dre's attempt to block a gynecologist's trademark application has been dismissed. Dr. Drai, a medical professional based in Pennsylvania, filed an application with United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2015 to trademark his name and "Doctor Drai OBGYN & Media Personality". The medic, who was born Draion M. Burch, said he'd been going by the name Dr. Drai for years and had used it on books he's written and for public appearances.

The rapper launched an objection to the application, claiming it would cause confusion in the marketplace because their names sound alike.

According to TMZ.com, officials at the trademark office have sided with the doctor, saying that Dr. Dre is well-known and there isn't enough evidence to prove the public would be confused, as they work in very different areas. The case was dismissed.
