Sarah Jessica Parker believes her public feud with Kim Cattrall has been "completely fabricated." In an interview with PEOPLE for this week's cover story, the Carrie Bradshaw of the "Sex and the City" film and TV series opened up about topics ranging from her current projects, including HBO's "Divorce", and her new kids' line for The Gap to marriage, motherhood and four decades of fame.

The 52-year-old actress also addressed the controversy surrounding "SATC" which sparked last year after the plug was pulled on a third film. Kim told Piers Morgan that she felt she'd had a "toxic relationship" with Sarah and her other co-stars during "SATC", but Sarah insisted that there's no feud between them because she never responded.

"I never talked about it, except [to say] that some of us were disappointed [about the movie not happening]," Sarah said in the issue, on stands Friday, February 16. "But I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me," she added.

The four-time Golden Globe winner went on sharing, "We had this experience and it was amazing, and nothing will ever be like it. We had a connection with an audience, and we had a connection with the city and with this crew, and we got to tell these crazy stories with each other. So I don't want to mess with that."

"I couldn't imagine anyone else playing that part," she explained, before insisting that "there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won't, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege."

The drama between Sarah and Kim got even nastier after Sarah sent her "love and condolences" after Kim's brother Chris went missing and was found dead. But hours later, Kim slammed Sarah on Instagram, accusing her of "exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."
