The 'Energetic' singer has been selected as the honorary ambassador for the upcoming global sports event and dresses up in the princely attire to promote Korean culture.

AceShowbiz - Wanna One's Kang Daniel gets regal for 2018 Winter Olympics to be held in Pyeongchang. Only a few days away before the global sports event is kicked off, the idol has been named the honorary ambassador for Pyeongchang Olympics.

In honor of the role, the 21-year-old star dressed up in the traditional clothing of the Emperor of the Goryeo Dynasty, to promote Korean culture and tradition. His transformation was unveiled in the Tuesday, February 6 broadcast of SBS' "One Night of TV Entertainment".

A representative for the Pyeongchang Olympics said about choosing Daniel as the honorary ambassador for the event, "Right now all the athletics are training hard for D-Day after passing the rigorous audition process. Likewise, there's a close resemblance in Wanna One's case, as they also face competition within the entertainment industry and work to strive for their goals."

Kang Daniel has been the busiest member of Wanna One since he finished in the first place on "Produce 101 Season 2". In addition to performing as a group with ten other members and promoting their music together, he has appeared on variety shows such as "Master Key" and "Insolent Housemates" (a.k.a. "Living Together in Empty Room"). He also stars in Davichi's music video for "Days Without You".

Wanna One is currently gearing up for their latest comeback. A YMC Entertainment representative revealed earlier this month, "Wanna One finished filming for their new MV on February 2 and is currently focusing on their comeback," before adding, "The new album is being finalized at the moment. An exact release date has not been confirmed."

The 11-piece group is set to disband on December 31, 2018 and the boys will return to their respective agencies, but there have been talks to extend their contract through January 2019. "It is true that we brought up the possibility of holding their final concert, which was scheduled for December, in January instead," a rep for the entertainment label commented on the reports last month. "However, it was simply brought, and additional discussion has not been done yet."
