Justin Timberlake Faces Backlash for Holding 'Man of the Woods' Listening Party at Prince's Studio

Fans of the late musician are upset because Justin once made fun of Prince's height at the 2006 Golden Globes and dissed Prince on his song 'Give It to Me'.

AceShowbiz - Fans of Prince were outraged when Justin Timberlake announced that he would be holding a listening party for his upcoming album "Man of the Woods" at Prince's Paisley Park studio next month. The fans' outrage was understandable though, considering the contentious history between the two musicians.

If you don't remember, their feud began at an Emmys after-party back in 2006, where Prince made a comment on Justin's hit song "Sexy Back". He said at the time, "For whoever is claiming they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!"

Not long afterward, Justin was set to present Best Original Song Award at the Golden Globes. Prince won that category with his song "Song of the Heart", which served as the soundtrack to animated film "Happy Feet". Prince was reportedly stuck in traffic, so Justin made fun of the "1999" singer's height by pretending to hand the trophy to someone on the ground.

Justin didn't stop slamming Prince there. Shortly after that, he released a song called "Give It to Me", which was produced by his longtime collaborator Timbaland. Justin took a jab at Prince in one of the verses on the track. "If sexy never left, then why's everybody on my s**t?/ Don't hate on me just because you didn't come up with it," he sang.

Knowing their history, a Prince fan wrote on Twitter, "Who the f**k is letting Timberlake do his album listening party at Paisley Park? Prince would have never consigned this." Another tweeted, "Justin Timberlake disrespect Prince with that weak diss track back in the day and now he's allowed to perform inside Paisley Park? Disrespect all over again... SMH."

"So Justin Timberlake dissed Prince in a song AND openly mocked his height, and the people running his Estate are gonna let him party at Paisley Park," another echoed the remark. One other said, "Justin Timberlake being able to set FOOT in Paisley Park is some f***ery that should NEVER f***ing happen.. And it wouldn't were Prince still here.. You f***ers is tacky..."

Reps for both Justin and Paisley Park have yet to respond to the backlash.
