Bam Margera was arrested this weekend after allegedly driving under the influence. A source has reported to TMZ that California Highway Patrol officers initially stopped the former "Jackass" star due to a cell phone violation. However, some officers noticed a sign of possible intoxication and conducted a standard field sobriety test.
The officers then proceeded to arrest Margera for suspected drunk driving. His bail was set at $15,000 and he was released a little after 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, January 7. The pro skateboarder is due back in court in February.
The incident marks Margera's first DUI arrest. Upon learning about his arrest, it has been reported that his family is doing their best to help Margera. "He's with a friend out there and we're trying to see if he wants to go to rehab or anything," Margera's brother Jess told Page Six. "We're trying to help him from across the country."
Back in September, Margera, who recently welcomed his first son Phoenix Wolf Margera with wife Nicole Boyd, opened up about his battle with alcohol abuse. He revealed that skateboarding helped him get his life back on track after hitting rock bottom.
"I took a five-year hiatus from skating because I had bone spurs, so instead I was making money by doing nightclub appearances, which basically was shooting photos and taking shots with the locals," he told PEOPLE at the time. "So I was s**tbag wasted every night, and eventually was like, 'This has to stop.' Once I woke up in my own puke and pee, I knew I has to cut it off."
"I just reached a point where drinking got really old," he added. "I just looked at the big picture, like, 'What am I doing? I'm not doing anything, just sitting in a bar in Westchester cracking jokes with the locals.' So I stopped."
