Patty Jenkins Talks 'Totally Different' 'Wonder Woman 2', Teases Lynda Carter Cameo
Movie

The director says that the second 'Wonder Woman' film will have 'a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it's its own movie completely, so it's not 'two' to us.'

AceShowbiz - "Wonder Woman 2" won't feel like a sequel, director Patty Jenkins has promised. The 46-year-old filmmaker dished on the follow-up to last year's "Wonder Woman" on Tuesday night, January 2 at the Palm Springs Film Festival where star Gal Gadot was being honored with the Rising Star Award.

Jenkins told Entertainment Tonight that she's working on a "totally different" film to the original DC blockbuster. "We're actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it's its own movie completely, so it's not 'two' to us," she said, noting that "it's an entirely new adventure together that we couldn't be luckier [to do]."

Rumor had it that the second film about the Amazonian princess will be set in the '80s during the Cold War, but Jenkins had not confirmed it. Speaking about a possible cameo appearance for original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, who would have appeared in the first movie had her scheduled permitted it, Jenkins said, "We'll see."

The helmer said, "Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn't work, so she's always been a part of our Wonder Woman family." She told the publication, "We won't say anything yet, but we certainly--there's no lack of trying."

"Wonder Woman 2" is currently set to hit U.S. theaters on November 1, 2019, with Gal Gadot returning as Diana Prince a.k.a. the titular superheroine. Chris Pine has also been confirmed to return as the beloved Amazonian princess' love interest Steve Trevor, despite the leading man's apparent death in the first film.

Patty Jenkins will direct the film from a script she co-wrote with Dave Callaham and Geoff Johns. Deborah and Zack Snyder are serving as producers.
