Usher can finally breathe a sigh of relief. A lawsuit against him, in which Laura Helm accused the singer of failing to warn her of his reported herpes before engaging in unprotected sex, has been dismissed, TMZ reports.

The dismissal came after TMZ obtained a phone call recording between Helm and Dennis Byron, where Helm told the guy that Usher had always worn a condom when they had sex, so she wasn't concerned about being exposed to the virus. The conversation, which happened two days before she filed the lawsuit, contradicted what Helm said in the documents, in which she claimed that she had unprotected sex with him.

Her lawyer, Lisa West, explained that Helm was lying to Byron because she thought that the guy was trying to extort her and sell the tape to the media. However, West parted ways with Helm shortly after the phone conversation surfaced on the Internet. Helm eventually hired a new lawyer. On Friday, November 17, the new lawyer filed court documents to dismiss the case with "the intent to refile."

Following the dismissal, Usher's lawyer, Steve Sadow, told PEOPLE that he wished that the dismissal would bring an end to possible litigation against the singer in Georgia. "It's our sincere hope that this dismissal will bring an end to the opportunistic litigation against Usher in Georgia," he said.

Back in 2012, it was reported that the "So Sick" crooner had to cough up more than one million dollars after infecting his then-partner with STD. Knowing that there is no cure for the disease, the woman, who reportedly worked as a celebrity stylist, also suffered "severe emotional distress" as she felt that her "health and body" had been ruined by him. Usher, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, eventually apologized to the woman and promised that he would "take care of things."
