'I wait for the phone to ring and then I find out, but it hasn't rung so I don't know,' Ellie Kendrick said when asked whether her character would be returning for the eighth and final season.

AceShowbiz - Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) is one of fan-favorite characters on HBO's "Game of Thrones". After serving as the protector of crappled Bran Stark a.k.a. the Three-Eyed Raven (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in their magical journey beyond the wall, Meera bid farewell to Bran in season 7. And now, fans are wondering whether they will see more of the character in the eighth and final season of the hit series.

The outlook doesn't look great though, since in an interview with Metro, Kendrick hinted that her character might not be returning, much to fans' disappointment. "Not as far as I know. I don't know. It's funny because I always get asked, 'What's going to happen? Are you in it?' Genuinely the truth is I don't know," the 27-year-old actress spoke of the matter.

"I wait for the phone to ring and then I find out, but it hasn't rung so I don't know," the actress went on saying. "I'll find out whether I am or not at some point, but for now I haven't been notified so I'm yet to discover."

Weighing in on Meera's journey with Bran, Kendrick said, "It was really sad on a personal level, because we had a little gang which dwindled further and further as the seasons went on."

She continued, "It was a sad day to say farewell to young Isaac--not so young now and also very tall, which means he was so difficult to put on the sled, which I actually did, although he's a lot taller than me."

When asked about how she thought the series would end, Kendrick responded, "Absolutely no idea what's going to happen. All I can hope for is Meera is going to come back on a dragon and be the new queen. That'd be pretty sweet for me. But somehow, not quite sure that's how it's going to turn out."

Meera, the elder sister of Jojen Reed (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), was first introduced back in season 3. Season 6 marked her biggest moment as she contributed a big part to the tragic, heartbreaking Hodor storyline in an episode titled "The Door".

While it remains to be seen whether season 8 will see Meera returning, Ben Crompton, who plays Dolorous Edd, recently revealed his character would return for the final season of HBO's popular series.
