AMC keeps "Preacher" around. Co-creator and executive producer Seth Rogen has taken to his Twitter account to share the exciting news.

"The Interview" actor wrote, "Season 3!!!! #Preacher," alongside a poster for the series, which is based on the popular cult comic book franchise of the same name. The upcoming season of the darkly comedic drama is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2018.

The news comes almost two months after "Preacher" wrapped up its sophomore season in September. While the freshman season debuted to rave reviews, "Preacher" struggled rating-wise a little bit during its second season. Fans assumed that season 2 kept the characters stuck in the same place for too long a time.

However, fans will definitely be excited to see more of the story of the series, which follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun). The trio embark on a road trip to find God, but things won't be easy as they are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

The previous season 2 saw them going to New Orleans in search of God. Season 2, however, ended with a rather shocking death of Tulip. In hope of her being resurrected, Jesse and Cassidy were forced to head for Angelville with Tulip's corpse in tow.

Along with Seth, Evan Goldberg ("This Is the End", "Superbad", "Neighbors") develops the series. Meanwhile, Sam Catlin ("Breaking Bad") serves as showrunner. Adapted from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comics, the series stars Graham McTavish as The Cowboy a.k.a. The Saint of Killers, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, W. Earl Brown as Sheriff Hugo Root, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Ian Colletti as Eugene "Arseface" Root and Pip Torrens as Herr Starr.
