The 'My Love from the Star' actor is set to begin his mandatory military service in October.

AceShowbiz - Prepare your tissue for another of your favorite actors is ready to enter the military grounds next month. On September 28, his agency KeyEast Entertainment announced that Kim Soo Hyun would be enlisting quietly on October 23.
"Kim Soo Hyun will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier on October 23," the agency said in a statement. "Since he's just fulfilling his duties as a citizen of South Korea, Kim Soo Hyun has decided to enlist quietly without any press conferences or formal farewell events."
"After completing his five weeks of basic training at the army recruit training center, Kim Soo Hyun will be serving in the military for 21 months," it added.
Soo Hyun first gained recognition through his role as a singer prodigy on "Dream High". His popularity skyrocketed when he starred on hit period drama "Moon Embracing the Sun" as the young king Lee Hwon. He reached another peak of popularity and became one of the most in-demand endorsers following his role on fantasy romance series "My Love from the Star" on which he starred alongside Jun Ji Hyun. His last drama series was 2015's "The Producers".
The 29-year-old heartthrob had originally expressed his desire to enlist this year, but there was a speculation that his plans may change due to massive commercial and critical failure of his recent movie "Real". He told the press in June that he wanted one last acting gig after the movie before enlisting.
Kim Soo Hyun's upcoming enlistment will add another to the already long list of hot Korean stars who begin their military service this year. Earlier this year, Joo Won, Ji Chang Wook and Kang Ha Neul have enlisted in military. K-pop idol Siwan of ZE:A began his military service on July 11 after completing his drama "The King in Love", while Taecyeon of 2PM quietly enlisted on September 4.
