George Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin returned to red carpet for the first time since becoming parents. The couple held hands as they posed for photographers at the premiere of his new movie "Suburbicon" on Saturday, September 2 in Venice, Italy.
George and Amal made their first red-carpet appearance at the 2017 Venice Film Festival. He looked sharp in his tailored suit and Amal was lovely in a violet dress by Atelier Versace. The new mom finished off her look with Aquazzura shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
The day before the special screening, the actor and his lawyer wife enjoyed dinner with friends as part of the event at the annual film festival. George suited up but ditched the tie while Amal glammed up in a simmering strapless blue dress by Missoni.
"Suburbicon" was directed and co-produced by Clooney. He also co-wrote the script with the Coen brothers. It takes place in a deceptively peaceful community that hides a violent underbelly. The crime comedy stars Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac among others. It will get a theatrical release in the United States on January 5, 2018 after hitting film festival circuit.
George Clooney has kept a low profile since welcoming twin babies, son Alexander and daughter Ella, with his wife in June. "I just have to clean the barf off of my tux. It used to be my barf but now it's the twins' barf. So it all works out," he joked in a recent interview.
On a serious note, the new dad admitted fatherhood was an uncharted territory for him. "Suddenly, you're responsible for other people, which is terrifying," he opened up before singing praise for his wife, "She's like an Olympic athlete. She's doing so beautifully."
He added, "Right now my job is changing diapers and walking them around a little bit. I really didn't think at 56 that I would be the parent of twins. Don't make plans. You always have to just enjoy the ride."
