So Ji Sub and Son Ye Jin are set to reunite onscreen after 16 years. The pair will star in upcoming Korean movie remake of "Be With You", a Japanese novel by Takuji Ichikawa, which was remade into Japanese film in 2004.
Also called "I'm on My Way to Meet You", the movie also stars Kim Ji Hwan, Go Chang Suk, Lee Joon Hyuk, Son Yeo Eun, Lee Yoo Jin, Kim Hyun Soo, and Bae Yoo Ram. Filming began on August 12 and it is expected to be released sometime in 2018.
The story revolves around a man named Woo Jin (So Ji Sub), whose deceased wife leaves him the promise that she will be back to meet him and their son on a rainy day a year after her death. Miraculously, a year later, Woo Jin reunites with his wife Soo Ah (Son Ye Jin), but she has lost all of her memories. Woo Jin will be played by So Ji Sub, Soo Ah will be played by Son Ye Jin, while child actor Kim Ji Hwan will play their son, Ji Ho.
Child actor Kim Ji Hwan will play as So Ji Sub's son, while Lee Joon Hyuk plays one of So Ji Sub's colleague. Go Chang Suk is playing So Ji Sub's friend, "Produce 101" season 2's Lee Yoo Jin has also been cast as the high school version of So Ji Sub's character, opposite actress Kim Hyun Soo as the high school version of Son Ye Jin.
Son Ye Jin and So Ji Sub previously filmed the drama "Delicious Proposal" back in 2001.
So Ji Sub recently starred alongside Song Joong Ki in "The Battleship Island", which tells story about roughly 400 Korean laborers who try to escape from Battleship Island during the Japanese colonial era.
