AceShowbiz - If you want to know what will happen to you if you insult a woman, ask Simon Cowell. In Tuesday, August 22 episode of "America's Got Talent", on which Simon serves as the judge, Simon made a crude joke about fellow judge Melanie Brown a.k.a. Mel B's recent failed marriage to estranged husband Stephen Belafonte.
The crazy ordeal came after magician Demian Aditya, one of the show's contestants, faced a technical malfunction during his performance. When asked for a comment, Simon quipped, "I kind of imagine this would be like Mel B's wedding night," he added, "A lot of anticipation, not much promise or delivery."
Mel understandably was enraged by the unnecessary joke and proceeded to fling her glass of water at Simon. She later was seen storming off the studio. During a real-time update on Twitter, the show's account wrote, "This just in: @OfficialMelB has left the building. #AGT," as well as shared a GIF of the "craziest thing to happen on #AGT."

Host Tyra Banks said, "Mel B is out." She continued, "This is live TV, y'all. Live TV." Mel, who is now going through a messy divorce with Stephen, later returned to the stage for the next performance.
People quickly took to Twitter to talk about the incident. "MEL B. WALKED OFF ON LIVE TV WTF Simon ?!?! # That was disrespectful as Hell man. #AGT," @uknowe took a jab at Simon. However, some thought that Simon's joke wasn't said with hostility. "Simon Cowell has a dry sense of humour, so I doubt anything he said to Mel B was said with hostility. She needs to get over it. #gmb," wrote @timeye.

In March, Mel filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years. In the court documents, the singer listed the date of separation as December 28 and asked for joint legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Madison Brown Belfonte. She also requested to terminate the court's ability to award spousal support in her filing.
