The leak comes from distribution partner Star India, whose logo appears as a watermark in the pirated copy of episode 4.

AceShowbiz - An upcoming episode of "Game of Thrones" leaks online ahead of its premiere. The fourth episode of season 7 titled "The Spoils of War", which is set to air Sunday, August 6 on HBO, appeared on the internet via Google Drive on Friday.

Shortly after the link to the "Game of Thrones" episode was posted on Reddit, the post was updated with this message, "The file has been taken down for violating GoogleDrive's [terms of service]. You can no longer view it." However, the episode has reportedly been circulating on torrent-based file-sharing piracy sites.

It's believed that the leak is not part of the massive HBO hack which was reported earlier this week. The new episode leak comes from distribution partner Star India, whose logo appears as a watermark in the pirated copy of the episode.

A spokesperson for Star India says in a statement, "This confirms the compromise of episode 4 of 'Game of Thrones' Season 7, earlier this afternoon. We take this breach very seriously and have immediately initiated forensic investigations at our and the technology partner's end to swiftly determine the cause. This is a grave issue and we are taking appropriate legal remedial action."

The Verge reports that the leaked "Game of Thrones" episode is in a low-quality format. It appears that Star India has leaked the episode online through its own website. People appear to have downloaded the "Game of Thrones" episode at Star India's distribution site freely before sharing it with Google Drive links on Reddit.

HBO has not responded to the leak.
