A Twitter user has suggested that the title of the controversial album was inspired by the address of the place where the rapper got into a fight with the sister of Beyonce.

Almost a month since the release of Jay-Z's latest studio effort "4:44", the album is still surrounded by controversies and mystery. A fan theory has surfaced, suggesting that the title of the album has something to do with the music mogul's infamous elevator incident with his sister-in-law Solange Knowles.
Twitter user @StephenOssola was the first to spark the new theory by sharing on the micro-blogging site a cryptic photo taken from The Standard Hotel, where Solange attacked Jigga in an elevator at a Met Gala after-party back in 2014. "I'm at The Standard where Solange beat Jay-Z's a** in the elevator. THE ADDRESS IS 444. I AM SHOOK," so the user wrote alongside the pic.
The photo showed the numbers "444," which was believed to be the secondary address for the Boom Boom Room, a nightclub located at the top of the venue. However, this might be only a coincidence, as the actual address of the hotel is 848 Washington. Jigga and Solange's incident happened at that address.

The elevator incident was said to be caused by Jay-Z's infidelity in his marriage to Beyonce Knowles. The rapper recently addressed it on "Kill Jay Z", spitting, "You egged Solange on/ Knowin' all along all you had to say you was wrong."
Jay-Z has actually shared what inspired him in naming the album. " '4:44' is a song that I wrote, and it's the crux of the album, just right in the middle of the album. And I woke up, literally, at 4:44 in the morning, 4:44 A.M., to write this song. So it became the title of the album and everything. It's the title track because it's such a powerful song, and I just believe one of the best songs I've ever written," the rapper previously said.
