Mitch Pileggi is set to reprise his role as Walter Skinner, an assistant director at the FBI, in the upcoming season 11 of FOX's long-running sci-fi series.

Agent Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will continue their long-established ally with Walter Skinner, as the network has confirmed that Mitch Pileggi will reprise his role as Mulder and Scully's most loyal supporter in the recently announced 11th season and second chapter of "The X-Files" event series.

Pileggi has played the assistant director at the FBI since season 1, thus fans are beyond excited to see him coming back to help Mulder and Scully in their supernatural investigations. Pileggi is one of the first "The X-Files" actors set to join returning stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.

The Emmy-winning series has been ordered for 10-episode season 11, featuring four more episodes compared to last season. Executive-produced by creator Chris Carter, the new season is scheduled to begin filming sometime this summer, eyeing a 2017-2018 season premiere.

The 65-year-old recently scored a role in "Transformers: The Last Knight". His other credits include "Supernatural", "Dallas" and "The X-Files: I Want to Believe".
