Many people are dying to be friends with Taylor Swift, but being around the famous singer is not always fun. At least that what Lorde said in her recent interview with The Guardian when she was asked about her friendship with the country-turned-pop superstar.

"It's like having a friend with very specific allergies," Lorde said, referring to Taylor's fame which often gets in the way of them being able to do everything they want to do together. "There are certain places you can't go together. Certain things you can't do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It's like having a friend with an autoimmune disease."

People soon took to Twitter to comment on Lorde's remark. "I wonder how @selenagomez feels about this. What an incredibly ignorant analogy to make @lorde," someone wrote. Selena Gomez, who is also Taylor's best friend, has struggled with an autoimmune disease, Lupus. Another sarcastically wrote, "thank you from a disabled fan w an autoimmune disease, hope you learn more about ableism and grow from this."

Responding to the criticism, the Kiwi singer apologized in a reply to someone's post. "didn't mention taylor, but regardless, i f***ed up & that was really insensitive. i'm sorry," she wrote.

Some others defended Lorde, though. "Anyone who is familiar with Lorde would knows she's queen of analogies. People need to grow a thicker skin seriously," one wrote. Another posted, "girl this was a totally valid analogy. I have rheumatoid arthritis & I can't go hiking with my friends & it's fine we're still buds."
