'New Mutants' Adds Blu Hunt as Moonstar and Henry Zaga as Sunspot

The 'Originals' actress is announced to play Danielle Moonstar and the '13 Reasons Why' actor is set to portray a mutant previously played by Adan Canto.
Fox is rounding up the main cast of "X-Men: The New Mutants". Blu Hunt ("The Originals") is cast as Danielle Moonstar and Henry Zaga ("13 Reasons Why") is added as Sunspot previously played by Adan Canto in 2014's "X-Men: Days of Future Past".

The storyline is still kept under wraps, but The Hollywood Reporter learns that the "X-Men" spin-off will be based on the classic "Demon Bear" storyline that has Moonstar as a central character. A Native American telepath, she's originally codenamed Psyche and later Mirage.

Hunt and Zaga join Anya Taylor-Joy ("Split") who is tapped as Magik and Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones") as Wolfsbane, and Charlie Heaton ("Stranger Things") as Sam Guthrie or Cannonball. Rosario Dawson is also in talks to join the cast as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.

The movie is directed by "The Fault in Our Stars" helmer Josh Boone. It is scheduled for April 13, 2018 in United States.
