New photo of Covert Media's "Ophelia" has arrived. Making its way out via The Hollywood Reporter, the photo offers the first look at Daisy Ridley as Ophelia, Hamlet's forbidden lover in William Shakespeare's tragedy the film is based on.

The re-imagining of "Hamlet" will be set in the 14th century, but spoken in a contemporary voice. Claire McCarthy directs the movie, with Semi Chellas writing the screenplay which is adapted from Lisa Klein's award-winning novel of the same name. The film will be told from Ophelia's perspective and follows "the untold story of her tragic romance with the prince." Her beauty and intelligence soon catch Hamlet's (George MacKay) attention and a forbidden love begins to grow.

Also starring in "Ophelia" is Naomi Watts as Hamlet's mother and the Queen of Denmark whom Ophelia serves. The movie will also feature Clive Owen as Claudius, Tom Felton as Laertes and Devon Terrell as Horatio.

"Set in the 14th century but spoken in a contemporary voice, Ophelia will put the titular character center stage," said producer Daniel Bobker about the film. "There's something extra precious in bringing to life a treasured female icon, celebrated for centuries as an alluring figure in the shadows of Shakespeare's most famous work, without ever really having her own story told," he added.

Ridley will next be seen in "Murder on the Orient Express" and will return as Rey in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi".
