Katy Perry made a surprise visit to Times Square on Friday, April 29, to serve cherry pies to fans. The event was held in order to promote her new single, "Bon Appetit", which was released on Thursday, April 28. People were extremely shocked when the "Roar" hitmaker opened her cherry pie truck and served the desserts herself. They quickly lined up in order to interact with Katy.
Dressed in a sleeveless plaid top and denim, Katy said hello to her fans and began handing out pies. Fans immediately took snaps of her and shared them on Twitter. One of them even managed to take a picture with the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer.
"I just got a Cherry Pie from miss thang @katyperry - Love ya #BonAppetit BABY!" a fan tweeted. Another expressed his happiness by saying, "Oh hey @katyperry! That moment when you go out to grab lunch and she's handing out free pie in Times Square!"

Prior to her surprise appearance, Katy posted photos of her "World's Best Cherry Pie" truck on Instagram. She captioned the photo, "I'M OPEN 24." Fans who met her earlier flooded the comment section to express their excitement. "I have a video with Katy Perry," one fan commented. "Thanks so much for showing kindness & taking a pic with my aunt today! It totally lifted her spirits! #manythanks #goodvibes," another said.
Some people who didn't manage to meet her expressed their regret. One of them said, "A week later and we would have seen Katy, the queen." Another added, "I WAS THERE A WEEK AGO!"
