The actor, who portrayed Jeremy Gilbert throughout six seasons, will reunite with her on-screen sister Elena Gilbert, who is portrayed by Nina Dobrev, in the final episode of the series.

AceShowbiz - Steven R. McQueen is returning on "The Vampire Diaries". The actor, who played Jeremy Gilbert for six seasons, teased his return in the series finale by posting on Instagram a picture of himself posing along with a Mystic Falls Medical Transport van in the background.

"Say hi to some old friends," he captioned the image. Steven's return was announced just a week after Nina Dobrev, who portrayed Elena Gilbert, confirmed that she would appear in the final episode of the series.

Steven's character Jeremy was last seen in season six finale, where he was saying goodbye to his sister Elena Gilbert, who was in a supernatural coma. Steven left the show in the middle of season six. At that time, series creator Julie Plec heartbreakingly announced that Steven would not be returning as a series regular. "We're saying goodbye to Steven McQueen, as a series regular, in the 14th episode," Julie said. "I was there when we were shooting his last scene and, spoiler alert, it's not a death scene because that would just be too mean," added the creator.

Steven's Jeremy and Nina's Elena are not the only Gilbert family members who will be making a comeback in series finale. David Anders, the actor who portrayed John Gilbert, has recently tweeted that he was heading to Atlanta, where the show is currently filming its series finale. "I'm headed to ATL on the morrow. Do the math," he wrote.

"The Vampire Diaries" series finale titled "I Was Feeling Epic" will air on Friday, March 10 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.
