Tom Hardy Addresses 'Star Wars Episode VIII' Stormtrooper Cameo Rumors
Movie

The 'Taboo' actor plays coy when asked whether or not he will appear as a member of the Galactic Empire's troops.

AceShowbiz - Tom Hardy, who was previously reported to make a cameo in "Star Wars Episode VIII", has responded to the rumor. He is asked whether he will appear as Stormtrooper, but his answers come out as vague statement.

"I don't know if I can even say that. Where did you hear that?" he says to The Hollywood Reporter. When the interviewer explains that he heard it from the internet, Hardy says with a laugh, "Ah, the internet is a glorious web of deceit and misinformation, isn't it?" He doesn't deny the rumor, though. "So that's misinformation?" the interviewer asks. "It could be, couldn't it?" Hardy says.

Both "Star Wars" behind-the-scenes team and actors always make such information secret anyway, just like what they did with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Hardy's upcoming appearance in "Episode VIII" remains a question. However, viewers can still hope Hardy will make a delightful surprise. Daniel Craig did it in "The Force Awakens", in which he made a Stormtrooper cameo.

In the meantime, you can tune into Hardy's performance on miniseries "Taboo", which premiered on January 7 in the United Kingdom. The story is set in nineteenth century Britain, in which Hardy plays vengeful adventurer James Delaney who is presumed dead and reappearing in London to avenge his father's death. Hardy explains in the interview why he likes playing such dark characters. "...villains are much more interesting than hero leads, who are, for the most part, really boring," he says.

"Taboo" is written by Hardy and his father Edward Hardy. It will premiere on January 10 on FX in the U.S.
