"Alien: Covenant" releases a teaser to build up anticipation for the first trailer which is due on Christmas Day. 15 seconds long, it gives a brief glimpse at a hatching Xenomorph egg but it stops short of opening completely.

The movie follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. They discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world - whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The movie is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on May 19, 2017. Ridley Scott returns as a director while Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce are back as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and Peter Weyland respectively. It also adds Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Billy Crudup and James Franco.
