Shawn Mendes slows things down in a black-and-white video for the acoustic version of "Mercy" off his latest album "Illuminate". In the clip, which he shared on Wednesday, December 21, the Canadian heartthrob sings his heart out to rows of vacated seats in Madison Square Garden as a spotlight flashes over the stage.

Donning a casual T-shirt, Mendes sits at the grand piano while belting out the song. His voice stretches from a croon to a rasp, backed only by piano chords. He sings, "Consuming all the air inside my lungs/ Ripping all the skin from off my bones/ I'm prepared to sacrifice my life/ I would gladly do it twice."

Mendes' latest video comes just two days before the singer releases an album from his Madison Square Garden show back in September. The album, titled "Live at Madison Square Garden", is set to be released on Friday, December 23. The new effort features some hit singles including "Mercy", "Treat You Better", "Stitches" and "Life of the Party" alongside special medleys of other songs, which were recorded during the singer's sold-out concert.

Mendes took to Twitter on Wednesday, December 21 to announce the release of his upcoming album. "#ShawnLiveAtMSG album out on iTunes & Spotify Friday 12/23 guys!" so he tweeted.
